Abstract:Based on the data of 2006--2015 National Natural Science Foundation Department of Management Sciences projects, this study makes comparisons about management science project funding and its time trends during the national "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" and "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, in terms of funding category, structure of research team, supporting institutions and research field. The result presents some special characters as follows: the number of projects shows a steady growth, and the amounts and intensity of funding keep improving; the growth of both Regional Science Fund Projects and Young Scientists Fund Projects takes the head; project leaders become younger in average age, with higher degrees and lower title; most supporting constitutions are colleges and universities, especially 985 Project ones; projects of Health Management and Policy, Resources and Environment Policy and Management as well as Macroeconomic Management and Strategic areas increase significantly; research hotspots continue expanding, while have some changes in a stable trend.
