目前国际上具有广泛影响力、对国家创新能力开展评价的权威报告主要有《全球竞争力报告》、《世界竞争力年鉴》、《全球创新指数》和《欧盟创新记分牌》。这些报告都是基于评价指标体系，对全球经济体的经济竞争力和创新实力进行比较和排名。中国在四个评价报告中的综合排名基本处于20－30位之间。而在细分指标方面，中国的创新表现差异较大，反映了国家创新能力存在的优势和不足。
