Abstract:Under the New Normal Conditions, attaching importance to the quality of economic growth is the top priority for China to achieve healthy and sustained economic development. Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2007 to 2016, this paper establishes a comprehensive evaluation index system of economic growth quality from the four dimensions of stable economic growth, economic structure optimization, green ecology and social welfare. The basic indicators and the various dimensions are empowered, and the comprehensive indexes of economic growth quality are calculated and ranked by using the principal component analysis method and GDP of each province is used to characterize the the quantity of regional economic growth. Then the the trend of coordinated development between “quality” and “quantity” of economic growth is discussed. The model results show that The results show that there are obvious regional differences in the quality of economic growth in China, and the eastern region is superior to the central and western regions as a whole. At the same time, there is a phenomenon of unbalanced development between the quality and quantity of economic growth in various regions. The article puts forward suggestions that each province of China should make measures to promote high-quality economic development according to local conditions, so as to narrow the difference between “quality” and “quantity” of economic growth across the country and promote coordinated development.
