Abstract:Digital innovation is an important way to upgrade China"s manufacturing industry, but there is a lack of systematic research on its influencing factors. Based on the theoretical framework of "Technology-Organization-Environment", this study explores the influence of technology, organization and environment on digital innovation of manufacturing enterprises by using fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method with a sample of 45 manufacturing enterprises. The study found that: (1) industrial Internet application, innovation resources, executive technical background, talent base, market competition, and government support are not necessary conditions for digital innovation in manufacturing enterprises, and individual factors cannot effectively promote digital innovation in manufacturing enterprises; (2) there are five pathways to digital innovation in manufacturing industries, which are classified into three types, namely technology-environment synergy, technology-organization synergy, technology-organization-environment synergy, and technology-organization-environment synergy. and technology-organization-environment synergy; (3) industrial Internet application and talent base have universal effects on promoting digital innovation in manufacturing enterprises. The findings help to reveal the synergistic mechanisms of multiple factors behind the development of digital innovation in manufacturing enterprises and provide useful practical insights for digital innovation in Chinese manufacturing enterprises.
