Abstract:The complex relationship between makerspace’s social network and partners’ social network is a prominent feature of makerspace. And it has important influence on makerspace’s performance. Based on social networks theory, this study uses Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) which focus on focus “configuration effect” to explore configuration effect of network characteristics on makerspace’s performance. The results show: (1) Obtaining high makerspace’s performance depends on the configuration effect between network characteristics elements, and there are three paths to obtain high makerspace’s performance, namely: network centrality-tie strength dominant, network structure dominant and relationship embedding dominant. (2) There are mutual replacement phenomena between different network characteristics, which is beneficial to obtain high makerspace’s performance. (3) Network centrality and tie strength are the core conditions that affect high makerspace’s performance, which can effectively enhance the positive effect of network characteristics on improving makerspace’s performance.
