Abstract:Factors that influence knowledge sharing can be categorized into personal, social, technological and organizational dimensions according to sociotechnical system view. This paper proposes a theoretical model involving these four dimensions to investigate the most influential enablers for KMS-based knowledge sharing from multiple theoretical perspectives such as social capital theory, cognitive theory. PLS-SEM analysis was employed to validate the model based on a sample of 183 KMS users from 97 companies. The results show that all dimensions have positive effects on knowledge sharing, whereas social dimensions being the most strong predictor, followed by the personal, technological and organizational. The result implies that social capital is vital to knowledge sharing; KMS that can support social capital can enhance knowledge sharing effectively. Finally, two managerial mistakes are summarized based on empirical results.
