Abstract:An Analysis of Spatial Inequality and Convergence characteristics of Provincial Innovative Activity from the perspective of value chain innovation (three stages of knowledge innovation, research and development innovation and product transformation innovation) was made . The study found: (1) Overall, The degree of spatial inequality has gradually improved for the knowledge innovation and product transformation innovation activities , while the research and development innovation activities showed the "Matthew Effect" and Divergent trends(2) the research and development innovation and product innovation activities has a relatively consistent level of development and spatial inequality in the eight regions. (3) inter-regional differences are a major source of spatial inequality level in three innovation activities and the regional contribution was improved with the rise in the value chain .(4) there exist conditional beta convergence for three innovation activities ,the growth rate of knowledge innovation variables was significantly affected by the number of college students and the level of the market, only the per capita GDP has a significant positive impact on the research and development innovation growth, while per capita GDP and market level has a significant positive impact on the product innovation and transforming growth.
