Abstract:Patent licensing is the primary way for universities to utilize patent. It is usually needed to wait for the trading opportunity after a patent application is published. Based on 350 universities patent licensing transactions, it is found that patent examination period is positively related to patent licensing delay. Type of patent has significant impact on patent licensing delay; whether the trading partner is in the same area as the patentee has significant impact on patent licensing delay; while whether the patent is school-enterprise cooperated has no significant impact on it. And recommendations are given based on these finding to promote universities’ patent licensing deals.
