Abstract:The Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) is becoming a globally accepted benchmarking tool for assessment the maturity of a specific technology. Based on the TRL assessment research and practice within the National Science and Technology Major Projects, this research paper mainly studies on a more general assessment criteria of TRL for equipment technology. First, this research paper studies on the similarities and differences among the TRL standard or guidance of DoD, NASA, DoE, ISO and GJB, and puts forward the questions which need to further improve the generalization of the TRL standard. Second, based on the background of equipment technology, this paper puts forward more standard and general terms and specifications which will be used in the general TRL standard. Third, this research paper mainly studies on a more general TRL standard, including definition, description, and example for each TRL grade. On the premise of consistent with the international mainstream TRL standards, the improved TRL criteria can be more distinguish the differences among each TRL grade, be more general for all kinds of technology, and be more easily to understand and use.
