Abstract:In the open innovation paradigm, how SMEs choose different business strategies based on their own resources and the external environment dimensions is the main problem discussed in this paper. In the process of open innovation, SMEs adopt different commercialization models is based on the extent of enterprises’ resources abundance and market uncertainty faced by enterprises, so as to achieve the business entity dynamic symbiotic ecosystem. Through the analysis of relevant theories, the paper list four typical SMEs’ commercialization models, through the use of multi case study method, select eight tech SMEs as the research sample, and fully explain how SMEs make the strategic choice of commercialization model selection under the extent of enterprises’ resources abundance and market uncertainty faced by enterprises. The paper comprehensively considers three levels of ego, dyadic relation and network, further enrich and extend the theory of open innovation. At the same time, the paper plays an important role in the suitable selection of commercialization models of SMEs.
