Abstract:New energy vehicles are the strategic orientation of China"s auto industry transition. However, new energy vehicles show evident disadvantages in performance, price and convenience, and it is also the subversion of technology and regime of current auto industry. Therefore, developing new energy vehicles calls for powerful support from national policy. The article analyzes our country"s new energy vehicle policy documents in recent years through the sustainability transitions analytical framework. Our research shows: the policies mainly aim to support the transition directly while destructive policies remain further use to force transition reversely; it is needed to adjust regime subjects like local government and state-owned automakers through policies, adapting them to the development of new energy vehicles; The high threshold for new enterprises on complementary assets such as manufacture, marketing, and after-sales service should be lowered and policies should be able to highlight the competitiveness of enterprises who own the core technology.
