American VistA (Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture information system) is the earliest developed and highly integrated medical information management system with the most complete application software in the world. VistA has promoted the integrity of management, enhanced the precision of medical treatment, and played an important role in systematically avoiding medical errors, scientifically promoting medical decision, improving medical quality, advancing medical knowledge and improving management efficiency, is the key to the success of VA health care reform. Therefore, a systematical investigation of the R D mode, development history, research philosophy and technical overview of VistA has great significance to the information construction of China hospital.
