Abstract:In this paper, we use the two-dimensional quadrant method to study the relationship between the patent competitiveness of universities and scientific research in the world. It is found that, the patent of colleges and universities in the world has a strong distribution law in the two-dimensional graph, and there is a great correlation between the patent competitiveness and scientific research. Based on the y=ax+b linear fitting formula, this paper studies the relationship between patent competitiveness and scientific research in colleges and universities in the world, it is found that there are high consistency and coordination between the patent competitiveness and scientific research in the developed countries. For the universities in China, the value of a is 0.211 6, which is lower than that of most other countries in this study, and the value of B is 30.255 0, which is also lower than that of other countries in this study. These two parameters indicate that Chinese universities are in a special development period and incline to apply for more patents. The results are also accorded with China''s current economic and technological development period.
