Abstract:The paper applied the panel data of the 30 provinces and the meta-frontier SBM model in China during the period of 12th Five-year plan in the multi-factors energy efficiency framework to calculate the provincial energy efficiency. It is found that the provincial energy efficiency in China still maintains a low level during the "12th Five-Year" period, and the difference between regions is increasing significantly. The average level of provincial energy efficiency in China is 0.58, indicating that the current level of economic output can still be achieved when the level of 40% energy input is reduced, and the potential of energy saving and emission reduction is relatively large. The application of spatial statistical analysis and spatial econometric model of provincial energy efficiency results show that energy efficiency has a significant spatial autocorrelation, energy consumption structure, energy development level and the proportion of the second industry weaken the improvement of the energy efficiency while the technology innovation and urbanization rate support for the increasing trend of energy efficiency.
