The Effect of OFDI on Exports Sophistication of Home Country's High-Tech Industry

本文测算了39个国家 1995-2016年高技术产业出口技术复杂度，结合理论模型的推导，探讨了OFDI对母国高技术产业出口技术复杂度的机制，并且运用动态面板数据模型的system GMM方法实证检验了OFDI对母国高技术产业出口技术复杂度的影响。结果表明OFDI能够提升母国高技术产业出口技术复杂度。经过进一步分析，发现OFDI仅对发展中国家高技术产业出口技术复杂度具有显著的提升作用，而对发达国家却在表现出一定程度的抑制作用。此外，FDI、研发投入、人力资本、对外开放度以及自有技术均能促进一国高技术产业出口技术复杂度的提升，而资本禀赋对发达国家和发展中国家高技术产业出口技术复杂度的影响呈现差异性。

Abstract:

This paper estimates the export sophistication of high technology industry of 39 countries in 1995-2016, combined with the theoretical model, discusses the mechanism of OFDI on the high-tech industry’s export sophistication of home country, and uses the system GMM method of dynamic panel data model to test the influence of OFDI on the high-tech industry’s export sophistication of home country. The results show that OFDI can improve the high-tech industry’s export sophistication of the home country. After further analysis, it is found that OFDI has a significant improvement effect on the high-tech industry’s export sophistication in developing countries, but has a certain inhibition to developed countries. In addition, FDI, R & D investment, human capital, openness and a country’s own technology can promote the country's high-tech industry’s export sophistication level, but capital endowment shows different effects high-tech industry’s export sophistication between developed countries and developing countries.
