Abstract:As an emerging technology, blockchain is influencing a wide range of industries around the world. Drawing on the theory of disruptive innovation put forward by Christensen and introducing overseas frontier research viewpoints with mature cases of the application of blockchain, this article analyzes how blockchain is having subversive impacts on cultural and creative industries by establishing a new mechanism for authenticity verification and trust, reconstructing the mechanism for creating high-quality content, and constructing a mutually beneficial industrial ecology. Meanwhile, the role of blockchain in cultural and creative industries along with the problems caused are rethought as an extension of the disruptive innovation theory in the context of China.
