Abstract:In order to test the policy effect of government patent awards on SME performance, this paper uses 226 SMEs in Jiangsu Province as the research object and a multiple regression approach to empirically study the relationship between government patent awards and SMEs" performance. The four dimensions of management, operation, and protection explore the role of intellectual property in its regulation. The results of the study show that: (1) There is a positive effect of government patent awards on the performance of SMEs; (2) Enterprise intellectual property capabilities can help to amplify the role of government patent awards in promoting corporate performance. The study provides a theoretical basis for SMEs to optimize the construction of intellectual property, improve performance, and establish a sound patent awards policy.
