Abstract:Research methods of cognitive neuroscience make up the shortcomings of the traditional information systems (IS) research, reduce the measurement error of self-report, accurately reveal the psychological process of user's decision making, and have promoted the development of scientific research on information systems. This paper intends to introduce Neuroscience Information Systems (NeuroIS) research which is the international frontier of information systems research, help IS scholars better understand research status of NeuroIS and get insight into the related necessary knowledge and technical basis of the NeuroIS frontier research areas. We review and summarize the development phases, disciplinary orientation, common research tools and research questions of NeuroIS by collecting and looking through related literature after the proposal of NeuroIS. We point out the specified orientation and ways to choose proper methods of NeuroIS research, classify the research topics of existing literatures and put forward some practical suggestions for future research.
