Abstract:Green development is a most important concept for China’s socioeconomic development in the ‘new era’. This paper takes Guangdong Province as research object, establishes an assessment indicators system covering the fields of society and economy, resource utilization, and environment protection, and analyzes regional green development status and changes since the beginning of new normal phase, by using factor analysis method and calculating synthetic evaluating scores. Results shows that, core area of Pearl River Delta is the highest in green development at present, while most of the cities in eastern, western, and northern Guangdong Province are lower and their development highly relies on resource consumption. After entering the new normal phase, improvement of green development occurs in each city, however, systematic and coordinating improving achievement is still absent. Based on the development status and main-functional orientation of different regions, this paper puts forward the differentiated regional paths of green development in future. Taking Guangdong Province with obvious regional disparity as a typical area, the results can enlighten the country in establishing national green development patterns and regional coordination mechanisms.
