Abstract:The energy consumption and emission factor of different types from relevant material was employed to estimate CO2 emissions from electricity generation in Guangdong province, analyze the activities of CO2 emissions by electricity generation, the change of CO2 emissions and electricity consumption, economic development, thermal power generation of the same period were quantified by Tapio decoupling theory, then analyze the change of carbon emission per unit of electricity generation and economic benefits per unit of electricity consumption. The results shows that the trend of CO2 emissions from electricity generation was increased firstly after declining, the variance of trend is essentially same with thermal power generation from 2005 to 2016 in Guangdong province. Coal consumption continue to be the leading source of CO2 emissions from electricity generation Therefore, it should control CO2 emission from electricity generation in the fields of unit transformation, optimization of energy structure and elimination of backward production capacity.
