Abstract:Based on the wearable device patent data of Derwent Innovations Index from the year of 1998-2017, using the method of Social Network Analysis, this paper studied and compared the network structure and evolution rules of the cooperative network of wearable industry in China and the United State. The results showed that the scale of wearable industry innovation network in China and the United States have been expanding constantly, but the level of cooperation among Chinese patent holders in China was not as high as that in the United States. Enterprises controlled most of the network resources in China, while individual researchers and a few large enterprises jointly controlled the network resources in the United States. The patent technology fields in both countries were constantly improving, but China lacked of front-end core technology, and the pace of wearable technology innovation lagged behind that of the United States. In general, the development of China's wearable industry still has a certain gap with the United States, requiring individuals, enterprises and the government to jointly promote cooperation and innovation.
