Abstract:Based on the data of general project and young scholar science foundation of China National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) Project, and the data of general project and young scholar science foundation from the Ministry of Medical Science of NSFC, this paper analyzes the competitive power of medical science research and its changing trend of 8 “double first-class” colleges and universities (Hereinafter referred to as sample universities) in China by constructing competitive index. From 2009 to 2017, the sample universities’ total number of the projects funded by the Ministry of Medical Science of NSFC increased rapidly, and accounting for 29.29% of the general projects and 25.24% of young scholar science foundation projects of the Ministry of Medical Science of NSFC in 2017 respectively. During the same period, within the sample universities, the dispersion degree and the coefficient of variation of general projects and young scholar science foundation projects of the Ministry of Medical Science of NSFC increased significantly. The results show that the number of projects supported by the NSFC and the Ministry of Medical Science of NSFC is very high and rising, and the scientific research competitiveness of medical disciplines of "double first-class" colleges and universities in China appear obvious differentiation, ranking appears certain solidification.
