Abstract:User’s (i.e. maker) entering and continuing participation in makerspace are key factors for driving the sustainable development of makerspace. Integrating the information system"s expectation confirmation model, this paper will extend the concept of continuance usage intention to the research in makerspace. Based on the perspective of self-determination theory, we proposed a systematic research framework for the mechanism of the continuance usage intention. It is proposed that makerspace, as an innovative and entrepreneurial service ecosystem, can influence the intrinsic and external motivation of the makers by providing with economic, technical, social and policy-oriented “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” services, which in turn affects the level of satisfaction and continuance usage intention. In addition, the different causal orientation qualities of the makers—autonomous orientation, control orientation, and impersonally oriented—interact with the makerspace service environment, and ultimately affects the level of continuance usage intention.
