Abstract:The Han Chunyu incident’s dramatic reporting process of new medias reflects that the traditional positivist view of science and technology still dominates the current Chinese scientists and media ideas, and provides a rare opportunity for STS scholars to examine the current real knowledge production of Chinese scientists and their real interaction processes with media science communication. This paper first analyzes the controversial principle of reproducibility in the Han Chunyu incident from the tacit knowledge theory and the experimenter"s regression theory in STS, and points out that the principle of repeatability is not a mirror-like representation of natural characterization process, but the practice process intervened by the social and cultural interests. Then, from the perspective of the molecular biology float theory of Joan H.Fujimura in STS and the credit cycle theory of Bruno Latour, the social causes for the occurrence of the Han Chunyu incident are analyzed. Finally, we put forward three suggestions on how to avoid the recurrence of the Han Chunyu incident: Firstly, scientific ethics and integrity construction mechanism need to be further emphasized and perfected; Secondly, A reasonable necessary tension should be kept between utilitarian values and idealistic values; Thirdly, the popularity of STS education should be greatly increased in order to let science return the real world of life.
