Abstract:Under the tendency of global innovation, innovation has become a must of enterprise development. But at present, the contribution of innovation to enterprises’ output is difficult to measure, so this paper gives a quantitative index of enterprise innovation to solve this problem. We construct three types of nested CES production functions to measure the contribution of innovation based on electronic information industry and biomedical industry in Jiangsu, China with three indicators--technology, R&D capital input, and R&D labor, which use the number of effective invention patents to measure enterprise innovation. The result shows that “(LS) K” nesting model has the best fitness for electronic information industry, and it is more inclined to the “open innovation”; “(KS)L” model is fittest for biomedical industry among the three types of models we construct, and it is more inclined to the “closed innovation”. Combining the fitting results with the characteristics of the industry, some feasible proposals are provided eventually.
