Abstract:Southeast Asia has become region of significant focus for waste processing and manufacturing because of the promulgation and implementation of the ban on solid waste in China and the demand for upgrading and transformation in the solid waste industry. China's solid waste processing and disposal enterprises are actively investing overseas driven by the "Belt and Road" initiative. In order to promote Chinese enterprises to participant in the treatment and disposal of solid waste in ASEAN countries, promote technology transfer and South-South cooperation, the paper analyzes the generation, treatment, industrial development and investment environment of solid waste in ASEAN countries, on the basis of combing the laws and regulations. The article put forward specific suggestions for Chinese enterprises to invest in the ASEAN countries aiming at the three typical solid waste categories of municipal solid waste, E-waste and hazardous waste. Key investment countries should be selected according to the market and technological needs of each country. Enterprises should select key investment countries according to their market and technology needs and make targeted cooperative investment. For example, small-scale composting and biogas production technologies of municipal solid waste may be considered to invest in Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia. E-waste treatment and disposal technologies may be considered to invest in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia.
