Abstract:Ambidexterity of exploratory and exploitative innovations is an important topic in the research field of innovation. However, there is few research about it from the perspective of knowledge management, especially from the perspective of organizational unlearning. In this paper, a moderated mediating model was built to analyze the influence of organizational unlearning upon ambidexterity of exploratory and exploitative innovations, with emphasis on the mediating effect of strategic flexibility and the moderating effect of firm size. 271 samples were collected to conduct the empirical study and SPSS PROCESS( Version 3.3) was used to do the regression analysis. The results showed that organizational unlearning had a significant positive impact on the two dimensions of strategic flexibility (resource flexibility, cooperative flexibility) and the innovative ambidexterity of enterprises, the two dimensions of strategic flexibility, resource flexibility and cooperative flexibility not only had significant positive impact on innovative ambidexterity, but also play an intermediary role in the process of organizational unlearning influencing innovative ambidexterity, and firm size played a negative regulating role between organizational unlearning and strategic flexibility. The research not only provided a new perspective for the research of ambidexterity of exploratory and exploitative innovations, but also had practical implications for the firms to improve innovation ambidexterity.
