Abstract:The study is conducted by behavioral event interview(BEL)method. Firstly, the study collects entries to compile the scientific research competence dictionary and scale by different methods such as text analysis, questionnaire survey, panel of experts, data statistical analysis, etc; Then conduct in-depth interviews with 17 teachers through BEL method secondly; Thirdly, subject analysis, behavior coding, difference comparison, reliability and validity test were conducted on the 96 key-events obtained, and then constructs the scientific research competence model of college teachers. The model consists of 22 impact factors, which can be divided into two categories. Among them, the discriminating competence characteristics include 10 factors, another basic competence characteristics include 12 factors. The model can be further subdivided by cluster analysis if necessary.
