Abstract:This paper discussed how latecomers deeply participate in the international market and improve and upgrade the technology. It is concluded that promoting technology upgrading through export is the strategic orientation for Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Three paths are proposed by which overseas market forces Chinese manufacturing enterprises to upgrade their process innovation strategy: first, embed in global markets through process technology learning and imitation; second, improved production technology and process in order to meet the technical requirements of stricter export contracts; third, improved the ability of process innovation continuously and accumulated strategic process technology to react to consumption upgrading in oversea markets. Combined with the case analysis, the results of this paper confirms Chinese manufacturers should participate deeply in overseas market to promote the strategic upgrading of process innovation and achieve the transformation leading by process innovation. This study will provide reference for managers to re-understand the export behavior of enterprises from the perspective of innovation. It is suggested that in order to promote enterprises to learn technology from overseas markets, the government should design relevant export preferential measures from the perspective of improving the technological level of manufacturing enterprises.
