Abstract:Transportation has been the main source contributing to urban carbon emissions. To reduce carbon emissions, transformation from traditional fuel vehicels to electric vehicles has been an important solution. This article quantitatively analyzes the improved energy conversion efficiency, lightweight and mileage of electric passenger vehicles in Guangdong province through applying the innovative technologies, based on which the potential of reducing carbon emissions by 2025 through applying relative techniques is also explained. The results show that the application of the innovative electric vehicle technologies should have positive effects towards reducing carbon emissions. By introducing these techniques to electric passenger vehicles in Guangdong Province from 2020 to 2025, as well as combining them with innovated operating models, it is estimated that around 310 814t of CO2 can be reduced. The article also provides suggestions and approaches of how to promote these technologies and explore the potential of reducing carbon emissions, in terms of optimizing power production structure, promoting innovative technologies, as well as constructing the basic charging infrastructures and building up relative policies.
