Abstract:This paper studies the influence of intellectual property protection (IIP) on the export technological complexity of enterprises through the multi-dimensional fixed effect model. The results show that :(1) on the whole, there is a significant inverted U-shaped relationship between IIP and the export technological complexity of enterprises. (2) From the perspective of enterprises of different ownership, compared with domestic enterprises, there is a strong inverted U-shaped relationship between IIP and export technological complexity of enterprises in foreign-funded enterprises. (3) From the perspective of enterprises in different regions, there is still an inverted U-shaped relationship between IIP and the export technological complexity of enterprises in eastern regions, while a linear promoting relationship exists in the central and western regions. To sum up, due to China's special national conditions and the realistic background of unbalanced regional development, China should appropriately increase the intensity of IIP but not too radical.
