Abstract:The research background of water-energy-food nexus in agriculture was grasped precisely, and the status and development tendency of agricultural water-energy-food (AWEF) nexus was analyzed. Information visualization software named CiteSpace and bibliometric analysis method were used. The scope is core collection of the Web of Science database from 2000 to 2019.Results show that: (1) The World Economic Forum formally put forward the concept of "WEF nexus" in 2011. Internationally, research on AWEF nexus has shown a rapid growth trend since 2014. (2)The US is in a leading position in the depth of research on WEF nexus、the density of cooperation with other countries、 and its international influence. Although China started late, it has developed rapidly. (3) AWEF nexus is an interdisciplinary research field with high complexity and intersection. Environmental science and water resources are the main research fields. The key research fields of AWEF nexus in China are consistent with those in the world. (4) Food,、water resources and energy security are the main starting points of most studies, footprint research is a hot spot in recent years, and the research of AWEF correlation model based on uncertainty is an important direction of development. Finally, it is pointed out that in order to rapidly catch up with the forefront of international development in the field of AWEF nexus, China should not only pay attention to improving the volume of papers in the field, but also pay attention to improving the quality of research results, giving full play to the complementary advantages of disciplines, promoting international cooperation, and combining uncertain technical means and footprint theory to carry out a lot of research.
