Abstract:This paper aims to reveal the collaboration patterns and network structures among nations and institutions in scientific research related to big data, as well as to explore the dominant position of the main participating countries and institutions, and applies software tool of VOSviewer to visualize the collaboration networks and their characteristics in the form of scientific overlay maps. Following an overview of the global publications in the big data field, the structure features and evolution process of collaboration network, as well as the roles of major countries and institutions are depicted. Results show that the current global big data research mainly relies on domestic collaboration, especially intra-institutional collaboration, and the proportion of international collaboration is relatively low; the scale of international collaboration has kept expanding over time, and gradually formed a multi-oriented model; China, the United States and the United Kingdom are the leading countries; Chinese authors show high dominance in international collaboration networks, and Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University of China, and University of Texas of USA are the most active institutions.
