Abstract:This paper calculates the comprehensive index of green competitiveness of six provinces in central China, and uses the regression model of system GMM and FGLS to analyze the influence mechanism of environmental regulations on green competitiveness. The research shows that: (1) The green competitiveness of the six central provinces has risen overall from 2008 to 2017; the average time series is Hubei Province>Jiangxi Province>Anhui Province>Hunan Province>Shanxi Province>Henan Province; subsystem score in 2017 is the carrying capacity of resources and environment> the degree of economic growth and greening> the degree of government policy support. (2) There is an "inverted U-shaped" curve between environmental regulations and green competitiveness. At present, the six central provinces are on the left side of the turning point. Increasing the intensity of environmental regulations is conducive to the improvement of green competitiveness. (3) Technological innovation has a negative impact on the improvement of green competitiveness, and environmental regulations can indirectly have a significant positive effect on the improvement of green competitiveness through technological innovation. This article reveals the impact mechanism of environmental regulations on green competitiveness, and provides policy recommendations for the improvement of green competitiveness in the six central provinces.
