Abstract:Based on conservation of resources theory, this paper examines how shared leadership (stemming from team members) and servant leadership (a formally appointed leader) jointly cultivate team innovation. Through the statistical analysis of 506 questionnaires by paired sampling from 88 knowledge teams, the results show that: Shared leadership positively influences on team innovation performance. Servant leadership plays a mediated-moderation effect between shared leadership and team innovation performance, so the moderating effect of servant leadership on above relationship is mediated by team knowledge hiding. Specifically, for the teams with higher servant leadership, shared leadership can strongly improve their team innovation performance through the mediation of team knowledge hiding. The results are helpful to understand the potential intermediate mechanism and boundary condition between shared leadership and team innovation performance, and provide useful enlightenment for the leadership change and innovation management in knowledge teams.
