Abstract:The paper is based on the sample of Guangzhou City, aiming to analyze the impact and changes of technological innovation on urban economic growth in China. In order to ensure the accuracy of the analysis results, using the surpassing logarithmic production function, formula method and empirical parameter method to calculate and evaluate the contribution rate of technological innovation to economic growth in Guangzhou in the years 2001-2019. The study found that, Influenced by factors such as WTO accession, the low innovation resource base and the institutional dividend, Guangzhou contributed greatly to technological innovation in 2001-2008 years. After 2013, as China's economic development entered the "new normal", economic growth demanded higher quality of new technologies,and the mode of economic growth has changed from technology driven by the spillover of foreign technology to production mode relying on independent innovation. However, due to the impact of market environment at home and abroad, the transformation of economic development mode, the increase of institutional factors and the long time lag of independent innovation, the new technology based on independent innovation has relatively limited role in promoting regional economic growth in the short term, but in the long term, its role is increasing.
