Abstract:The distribution characteristics of standard essential patents is an important embodiment of the strategic layout of a country and an enterprise.Based on the relevant data of 5G standard essential patents from the European Telecommunication Standardization Association, this paper compares and analyzes the differences between China and the United States, the European Union, Japan and South Korea in terms of the number of 5G standard essential patents disclosed, geographical location distribution, and technical field distribution. The results show that :(1) China ranks first in the number of necessary patents disclosed for 5G standards, but there is still a gap between China and the EU in the number of standards involved in 5G technology;(2) The geographical distribution of China's 5G standard essential patents is mainly in China, and the market distribution is not wide;(3) China's 5G technology advantages mainly focus on wireless communication network and information transmission, while the technological advantages of the United States, the European Union and other countries or regions not only include wireless communication and information transmission, but also cover key technologies such as sensors and chips. The research of this paper is of great significance for understanding the development status of China's 5G standard essential patents and promoting the international layout of China's 5G patents.
