Abstract:In order to reveal the international scientific research cooperation development trend of 42 top universities in the first round of “Double First-Class” construction in China, and to further promote international scientific research cooperation among Chinese universities, based on the data of international co-authorship papers in InCites database, using the methods of scientometrics and bibliometrics, this paper analyzes the number of international co-authorship papers, cooperative countries, cooperative disciplines and funding institutions/plans, and focuses on comparing the changes between 2011-2015 and 2016-2020 these two periods. The study finds that in the past decade, especially from 2016 to 2020, international scientific research cooperation of 42 top universities in China presents the following characteristics: the scale has significantly expanded, the concentration of cooperative countries was high, the main cooperative disciplines were relatively fixed, and the funding institutions/plans have been optimized. The paper suggests to further optimize the layout of cooperative countries, improve cooperative disciplines, enrich cooperative modes, and to give full play to the role of multiple funding institutions/plans.
