Abstract:Entrepreneurial addiction is a procedural behavior of entrepreneur’s compulsive engagement in entrepreneurial activities for incentives and rewards. It stems from the interaction of the individual and the environment. It has a bright side of motivating entrepreneurs to move forward, and a dark side of reducing the quality of their life. Draw on the review of the existing research of behavioral addiction, we analyze the essence of entrepreneurial addiction based on the concept of internet addiction, workaholism and serial entrepreneurship. We explain the impact of entrepreneur characteristics and entrepreneurial environment on entrepreneurial addiction, and discuss the influence of entrepreneurial addiction on entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial activities. This study constructs an integrated research framework for entrepreneurial addiction. Strong argument is put forward for deepening the depth, widening the breadth and dynamic of research on entrepreneurial addiction. The research not only enriches the application scope and applicable situation of behavioral addiction, but also expands the formation of entrepreneurial addiction. It also offers novel and comprehensive perspective to understand positive and negative impacts of entrepreneurial addiction.
