Abstract:With the in-depth development of cooperative innovation and the frequent occurrence of technological breakthroughs, more and more innovative entities choose to embed patent cooperation networks to achieve technological innovation. As one of the signs of innovation in a company, discontinuous innovation can cope well with environmental uncertainties and the effects of technological change, therefore, the patent cooperation network and discontinuous innovation performance are worth further research. The study chooses patent cooperation data of a Chinese quoted business in pharmaceutical manufacture based on social network analysis. The patent co-applicant is utilized to build the corporate patent cooperation network, and the negative binomial regression model is used for analyzing the relationship between characteristic indicators of the self-centered patent cooperation network and the performance of discontinuous business innovation. The findings reveal that egocentric network size, relationship frequency, and structural holes are all beneficial to a firm's discontinuous innovation performance, while egocentric network density is detrimental.
