Abstract:To look into the influences and contributions of foreign academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) to the Chinese international cooperative academic output, this paper takes the academic collaborative output data between CAS foreign academicians in different geographical regions and Chinese scholars as research sample, which are collected from Scopus, SciVal and official website of CAS; and further analyse through creating a two-dimension research influence matrix model. This paper manages to establish two original innovative influence indexes, namely ‘impact of collaboration intensity’ and ‘impact of collaboration level’. Based on the analytical results of the 2D influence matrix model, this paper draws the following conclusions:(1)The international collaboration between CAS foreign academicians in Europe region and Chinese scholars indicates a major disparity in various research fields. Some research areas show a great achievement on both collaborative intensity and level, whilst some remain quite weak;(2)The international cooperation between CAS foreign academicians in Americas regions and Chinese scholars suggests a strong and healthy momentum, in which CAS foreign academicians in Americas have exerted positive influences on Chinese international research output;(3)Yet, the international cooperation between CAS foreign academicians in Asia and Pacific areas and Chinese scholars shows a relatively weak sign, from both collaborative intensity and level perspective. Based on the research findings, this paper suggests to set up specific and targeted analyses on resource allocation and cooperative mechanism according to the collaborative traits in each geographic region.
