Abstract:The article selects 30 provinces in China from 2004-2019 as the research object, constructs indicators to measure the level of artificial intelligence technology, portrays the spatial agglomeration of artificial intelligence technology level and foreign direct investment through Moran index, and constructs a spatial Durbin model using spatial weight matrix to empirically test the impact of artificial intelligence technology level on FDI location choice. The results show that both artificial intelligence technology level and foreign direct investment have positive spatial auto correlation; the improvement of artificial intelligence technology level not only plays a significant positive role in promoting the entry of foreign capital in the region, but also has a significant role in promoting the inflow of foreign capital in the neighboring regions; The heterogeneity analysis concludes that the effect of artificial intelligence technology level on FDI location choice is more significant in the central and western regions than in the east. The findings of the study provide an empirical basis for encouraging the further development of artificial intelligence technology, attracting and using foreign investment in a reasonable and high-quality manner, and establishing a new and more open economy.
