Abstract:As a new research field, it is essential to clarify the concept connotation and the concept boundary in promoting the research process of the metaverse. In this paper, 38 metaverse concepts accurately proposed in existing studies are summarized, and 138 Keywordsare decomposed. Based on the way of element combination, 15 sub-elements and 3 core elements are classified, abstracted, and refined, and on this basis, a conceptual framework of metaverse is constructed. This study perceives that technical elements, civilization elements and connectivity elements can be three feasible aspects for insight into the nature of the metaverse. The technical element is the important foundation for the construction of the metaverse, and the metaverse is also the inevitable product of the development of technology. The civilization element is an important standard to measure the development of the metaverse, and a highly prosperous digital civilization is a necessary condition for the evolution of the metaverse. The connectivity with the real world is the real value of the metaverse, and the symbiosis of virtual reality and integration of virtual reality will be the future trend of the metaverse and the real world. The conceptual framework of the metaverse proposed in this study can provide valuable analysis basis for the subsequent related research.
