Abstract:The "metaverse", as an emerging technology that integrates the Internet, artificial intelligence, blockchain, three-dimensional digital technology and other cutting-edge technologies, has attracted much discussion from all walks of life, and people have mixed feelings about its future development direction. By deconstructing the hierarchical structure of the physical, software, data, rules and application layers of the "metaverse" technology, this paper finds that based on each technology layer, the metaverse has multiple features such as mirror world, digital twin, online and offline, etc. These features lead to the "true self" and "false self". These features lead to ethical issues such as confusion between "true self" and "false self", data leakage and privacy, algorithmic manipulation and trust and morality, In response to these issues, this paper gives measures to defend against the risks and to improve the ethical governance system by embedding ethics in technological developments.
