Abstract:Repetitive projects often face various uncertainties during their execution, suffering from project delays and/or cost overruns. To address this challenge, this study considers the requirement of the work continuity and study the robust scheduling optimization problem. Firstly, the time buffer technology is applied to repetitive projects to ensure the work continuity of crews, and a new robustness measure is proposed according to the characteristics of repetitive projects. Secondly, this paper presents a robust optimization model for scheduling repetitive projects and designs the corresponding solution program. Finally, an engineering example and a Monte Carlo simulation experiment show that the proposed robust optimization model is very suitable for repetitive projects with continuous activity and can effectively improve the solution robustness and quality robustness of schedule. This paper can help repetitive project managers to construct a schedule that is suitable for their characteristics and has certain risk resistance ability.
