Abstract:Digital platform risk has received widespread attention. To further clarify the impact of digital platform risk on platform innovation performance and its management countermeasures, based on 170 paired data obtained from a questionnaire survey on platform-customer transaction relationships, we applied hierarchical regression methods to empirically test the impact of digital platform risk on platform innovation performance, the mediating role of customer engagement, and the moderating role of privacy protection and intellectual property protection. The results of the analysis show that: digital platform risk has a negative effect on platform innovation performance; customer engagement partially mediates between digital platform risk and platform innovation performance; privacy protection and intellectual property protection can attenuate the negative effect of digital platform risk on innovation performance. The findings of the study help to clarify the hazards of digital platform risks, and rationalize the regulatory and safeguarding roles of privacy protection and intellectual property protection to leverage the advantages of digital platforms and improve their innovation performance.
