Abstract:The harmonious development of economy and environment is the theme of sustainable society, and the improvement of ecological efficiency indicates the harmonious growth of economy and environment. Integrating life cycle analysis (LCA) and material flow cost accounting (MFCA) can improve economic benefits and reduce environmental load at the same time, and finally improve ecological efficiency. This paper discusses the relationship and difference between LCA and MFCA, and develops an integration method based on LCA and MFCA. Through (1) quantifying material and economic losses and external environmental damage costs through material balance analysis, MFCA and LCA, (2) making suggestions for improvement with the help of Pareto and hypothesis analysis, field interviews and existing literature; And (3) through re-executing MFCA and LCA, the proposed improvement option is verified to improve the ecological efficiency in three steps, which has been verified in A cement production enterprise.
