Abstract:Business model innovation is an important source for enterprises to obtain sustainable competitive advantage. Therefore, the exploration into the antecedents of business model innovation has become an important concern of academia and business. With the development of digital technology and the blurring of industrial boundary, the integration of social network and business model innovation is becoming a new focus. However, how social networks affect business model innovation has not yet formed a relatively clear and general theoretical framework. Using the method of literature review and based on the complexity of social network theory, this paper constructs the theoretical framework of the impact of social network on business model innovation from five perspectives: heterogeneity, structural hole, embeddedness, social capital, and network capability, including direct impact, indirect impact, and impact boundary, and discusses the possible research direction in the future. This will help to further carry out relevant empirical research and help enterprises better achieve breakthroughs in business model innovation in the current era.
