Abstract:This paper uses the fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method to investigate the configuration of different types of MSEs innovation driven by digital financial elements. The results show that: Individual digital financial elements do not constitute a necessary condition for improving MSEs innovation, but the joint effect of different elements can effectively promote MSEs innovation. Internet credit as a core condition has a universal effect on different types of MSEs innovation. What’s more, the combination of digital financial elements constitutes three ways to stimulate the MSEs innovation, which can be summarized as breadth-depth synergistic development configuration, depth-dominant configuration, and diversified and balanced development configuration. Different innovations fit different configurations. The results have important guiding value for the rational allocation of regional digital financial resources and promoting the well-ordered development of MSEs by triggering their innovation incentive effects.
