Abstract:As more and more women enter the workplace, it is more and more common for women to serve as senior executives in enterprises, and their performance has gradually been widely recognized and affirmed by the society. Relying on the theory of high-level echelon and risk appetite, this paper takes China"s A-share listed companies from 2008 to 2021 as a research sample to discuss the impact and mechanism of female executives on technological innovation of enterprises. The study found that female executives can significantly promote technological innovation in local companies. Further research also found that the role of female executives in promoting technological innovation of enterprises was more significant in the sample of non-state-owned enterprises, more fierce competition and more marketization in product markets. Based on this, it is enlightened that listed companies have achieved technological breakthroughs in the context of innovation-driven high-quality development: enterprises should take the initiative to improve the selection and promotion mechanism for female executives; Combine the characteristics and actual tasks of female executives to give and expand the corresponding functional authority of female executives; Enterprises can appropriately increase the number and proportion of female executives, and build a training chain for young female executives.
